Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actress best recognized for her role as detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she won an Emmy Award. She was born as the only child of a high-ranking executive in the United Auto Workers and a household worker, Delaney grew up with her four brothers. She was cast as a young innocent in 1981's soap opera All My Children. Delaney has appeared in a variety of TV movies, film and dramatics since then. Her career as a professional has been better than her personal life. The talented actor has been battling alcoholism and she has experienced two divorces. In 2005, she lost custody of her only child she had.
